Get ready to be scared !
Writing this post in English will suit my purpose much better than in French… Once again, Americans are great in celebrating fun traditions. At the end of September, people start getting crazy about Halloween coming up! I love it and I’m so excited to spend it here this year.
For the past few weeks, shops, bars, restaurants and even
offices, have begun to adorn their windows with many Halloween decorations.
Even Walmart has setup a huge area for Halloween costumes, decorations, and
other items to help you have the best 31st of October ever. If you go to Starbucks or any other
bakery, you will find great pumpkin cakes, scones and cookies. Some even have orange toppings !
Many different events are going on during this period including: Halloween parades, parties, and of course the opening of the haunted houses ! On Thursday night we went to visit two of the haunted houses. These houses are very popular and are a must-do thing ! They are only open 6 weeks a year, from the end of September to mid-November.
My team for visiting the first house!
When we got there, monsters were already waiting outside to start scaring people. They would jump out at us and suprise us by coming discretely behind you !
Upon entering the house, there is a certain way to follow in which you meet several creatures, and other suprises… Everything is made to create a scary atmosphere and frighten you. The thing is that more than being scared, I was stressed all night long, just wondering what would be next…
Thanks Antoine for supporting me in the house!! ;-)
It was such a good night, and a great experience ! Thank you Erica for organising it !
I had the chance to talk with some of the witches working
there. They said that they usually have two jobs, and that they come to the
haunted house late in the afternoon to get ready with complete make up and costume up to start welcoming people
later that night… 6 hours of work to scare everyone with their huge dentures,
and heavy costumes…What a life !
A little bit more... Here are a few pictures from the Halloween parad we went this week end !
